I know many of you think fire hydrants are ugly and should be covered or hidden. The opposite is true. If your home or your neighbor’s home is on fire, the fire hydrant is a key piece of equipment used by the Gwinnett Fire Department to extinguish the blaze. Fire trucks only carry 500 gallons of water onboard. Thousands of gallons of water are needed to extinguish a house fire. The fire department needs to be able to quickly and clearly see the fire
hydrant that is closest to the burning home. The closer the hydrant is to the fire, the faster the fire department can attach a supply hose-line and attack the fire. If a hydrant is covered or obscured by shrubs or foliage, the Fire Department cannot see it and will need to go farther to get to the next hydrant, costing extra minutes. More time means more of the home burned (a fire doubles in size every minute). Please clear out around the hydrants in your yard. Make sure they can be easily seen while coming up your street. Remember the house you save may be your own. Thanks for your help in making our neighborhood safer.

The ACC has continued efforts to preserve and promote the neighborhood property value by ensuring that all homeowners abide by the Kenion Forest Declaration of Covenants.
To accomplish the goal, the ACC routinely tours the neighborhood to observe its appearance. Following recent tours, the ACC sent letters to 58 homes that explained items that must be addressed to comply with the covenants.
The ACC has noticed that a number of issues have been resolved, but others are still outstanding. The ACC would like to encourage all who received a letter to address any outstanding issues promptly to provide a sustainable neighborhood and increased property values and to be courteous to your neighbors by complying with the request and the covenants.
Please remember, certain changes to your home or property may require an ACC review and approval before the work begins. For more information about the changes that should be reviewed, consult the Kenion Forest Declaration of Protective Covenants. Review requests should be submitted to the ACC.
